James Marshall Hendrix, in art "Jimi", was born in Seattle on November 27, 1942: special mix of African-American blood (his father) and Cheyenne Indians (the mother), little James grew up in a troubled adolescence and, prior to the divorce of parents (1951), then to his mother's death (1958). The band's first album, Are You Experienced?, a great success and stands second in the rankings of best selling records of 1967, behind only the historic Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band ( The Beatles, of course). Just Sir Paul McCartney encourages the rise of Hendrix, by inviting the band to Monterey International Pop Festival in June of '67.
Also in '67, sees the light Axis: Bold as Love also very successful, despite the events of his troubled first incision, and the tour around Europe later (during which Hendrix was also arrested for violent behavior caused by alcohol). Last album of JHE is Electric Ladyland, which marks the end of the group, partly because of claims of Hendrix to record each song many times before finding a version of his choice, doing several experiments in the meantime.

Hendrix Last year was marked by increasingly unruly performances, both human and musically: there are continuing problems with his staff, with drugs and alcohol and also with his audience. On 18 September 1970, was found dead in his rented apartment in London: the causes are not known for sure, but rumor has choked in the grip of a crisis ever due to excess of alcohol.
Genius and intemperance, as many, many artists, is a Hendrix was one of the distinguished representatives of the musical activities of the '60s was among the first to use heavy distortion, among the first to experiment with the wah wah, one of the pioneers of psychedelia, hard rock and funk.
