"The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist knows it's true."
JR Oppenheimer
Apparently, the new year has decided to open discussions with one of the classics (seasoned ruminations on various niches and cremation, to stay on the subject): glass half full or half empty?
rather watch the world with a confident smile or make a wise and constant preparation for the worst?
are two ways of life and, like everything else, both have their pros and cons:
- The optimistic positive events certainly live with more enthusiasm, whereas the pessimist will look at them with a certain wire suspicion
- The pessimist, by contrast, will face adversity already with a good deal of mental preparation (which should have made him stronger) ... the optimist, subject to the same misfortunes, presumably collapse first (unless has a dose of optimism so great to be able to smile even in the most tragic about this ... and I recommend reading "Candide" by Voltaire) The optimist
- appears generally as a person more sun, and the pessimist as a person of strong character.
- The optimist can be seen as a deluded, the pessimist like a damn cynical disillusioned.
Basically, be pessimistic takes to be a little 'better prepared for the worst: as a result in negative situations is not too surprised. Less expected, is less likely to be disappointed.
But if the events were to suddenly take a good turn, you can always remain pleasantly surprised!
The biggest scam of pessimism, however, is the cosmic no-confidence that you end up trying. Distrust which can sometimes lead to not even believe in those few things that could go really well. Things that at that point could risk be lost.
In summary, the best solution is to be a reasonable middle ground, that is realistic.
Unfortunately, in conclusion to that debate, we agreed that in this goddamn world (and in this country in particular), to be realistic in 99% of cases coincides with being pessimistic!
